''The 5.30'' is the flagship evening news programme on the Irish television network TV3. It is produced by the TV3 News division. ''The 5.30'', presented by main newscaster Colette Fitzpatrick, is a thirty minute news programme covering Irish national and international news stories, broadcast at 5:30pm every Monday to Friday. On Bank Holidays, the main evening bulletin usually aired at either 5:30pm, running for just five minutes. ==History== In December 2011, TV3 announced they would be renaming TV3 News at 5.30, ''The 5.30'' and relaunching the bulletin in October 2012. The last edition of the ''TV3 News at 5.30'' was broadcast on 19 October 2012. The 5.30 news programme, long the anchor of TV3's current affairs offering, broadcasts live from a specially designed new virtual set in the station’s Ballymount headquarters. The new format places an emphasis on breaking stories, live content and an increase in the number of stories covered from home and abroad.
